Lakewood first to take on Colorado’s construction defects law

The Lakewood City Council on Monday introduced an ordinance that would make it more difficult for homeowners associations to sue developers for construction defects and give builders more opportunity to fix problems before litigation begins. A public hearing and final vote on the matter is set for Oct. 13.

Supporters of the current law say it provides necessary protection for homeowners who might have bought a home that was poorly built.
